Primary Structures I, written for the mixed ensemble loadbang, explores the simple additive nature of the building blocks of The Four Pillars. The work is performed as stacked 4-note chords in Just Intonation alternating with long stretches of silence over a steady sine wave drone and builds a progressively more complex harmony out of extremely restricted means.
