This is the first completed example of my Rational Wedge series. In this piece, pure natural indigo is mixed with black acrylic in varying proportions to create two distinct levels of sheen and color, offset by an almost imperceptible graphite line.

The work is mitered at the edge and floats away from the wall allowing light to fill the space of the painting. The small graphite ticks, originally used simply as a measuring device for the ratio, became an integral part of the composition and a facet of all of the subsequent Rational Wedges.
