Ipanema Variations
2000
Jazz Ensemble | open duration
Ipanema Variations was an early experiment in uncontrolled looping, taking John Cage's chance operations (a la Cheap Imitation) and combining them with Terry Riley's technique for In C. The work consists of a number of "parts" for lead, bass, and rhythm instruments where each individual charts their own repetitive course.
