A new visual direction

The beginnings of a new series of works for video

I've recently been exploring making a series of video works that are heavily inspired by the quadrilateral symmetries of my longtime teacher Marian Zazeela. These new works will accompany my performances and installations and I'm excited to see where they take me.

I'm selecting constellations that are relevant to the particular performance, this first one being Aquarius and Libra (I'll let you figure out the connection) and tracing spirals between them. I then set the spirals to spin, mirror them, and set the videos elements to cross slowly. The results are really miraculous, creating all sorts of new connections and images. This is one of the first stills I've made from what will accompany my performance at this year's Avant Music Festival.
